CSPA Joins in Opposition to Nunes’ Folly

CSPA and a coalition of fishing and environmental organizations have submitted a 20 May 2011 letter to the House Natural Resources Committee and Water and Power Subcommittee in opposition to H.R. 1837.

The bill, introduced by Congressman Nunes, seeks to overturn years of state and federal water planning and millions of research dollars by gutting federal restrictions on Delta exports, overturning California water rights law, blocking restoration of the San Joaquin River, eviscerating the CVPIA and limiting BDCP measures to protect fisheries.

The potential implications are far-reaching and highly damaging to the Bay-Delta ecosystem and California’s water rights system.  Coalition Opposition Letter to HR 1837
