I had to drive south on I-5 today (6-10-09.) As I was south of Firebaugh I  looked at both sides of the highway to see miles and miles of orchards and vineyards, all green and well watered, as far as the eye can see. Then, and I could hardly believe my eyes, I saw an orchard smothered in water using flood irrigation and across from it a huge field of corn, close to six feet high, assuredly planted at the peek of the hype about the lack of water and fish over people. Strange sights when you consider the propaganda these water districts are running in the press. Ed.
