CSPA Sends Notice of Intent to Sue to Syar Concrete, Woodland

May 21, 2010 -- CSPA sent a 60-day Notice of Intent to Sue to Syar Concrete LLC for violations of the federal Clean Water Act and California General Industrial Stormwater Permit. Syar's Woodland California facility is a 5.7-acre concrete manufacturing facility, which discharges to the City of Woodland storm drain system and subsequently to Tule Canal and ultimately the Sacramento River and Delta.

In addition to the facility's discharge of pH, iron, copper, zinc, aluminum and total suspended solids that exceed standards, Syar failed to: 1) prepare an adequate Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, 2) implement an adequate monitoring and reporting program; 3)) install management measures to reduce or prevent pollutants from entering waterways and 4) file true and correct annual reports.

Lozeau Drury LLP is representing CSPA in this matter.
