{"id":2086,"date":"2018-04-18T18:14:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-19T01:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/calsport.org\/fisheriesblog\/?p=2086"},"modified":"2018-04-18T18:14:44","modified_gmt":"2018-04-19T01:14:44","slug":"delta-smelt-spawning-run-record-low-february-2018-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calsport.org\/fisheriesblog\/?p=2086","title":{"rendered":"Delta Smelt Spawning Run \u2013 Record Low February 2018 Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite three straight non-drought winters (2016-2018) the Delta smelt spawning run shows no sign of recovery based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildlife.ca.gov\/Conservation\/Delta\/Spring-Kodiak-Trawl\">Kodiak Trawl Survey<\/a> (Figure 1). The February 2018 survey brought a record low catch of only 4 adults (compared to 125-287 from 2011-2013). The March index was \u201c1\u201d. As in <a href=\"http:\/\/calsport.org\/fisheriesblog\/?p=1966\">my last post<\/a>, the prognosis for Delta smelt remains grim.
