CSPA, Coalition Submit Comments on Proposed Water Transfer

On 21 December 2013, CSPA and a coalition of fishing, environmental and tribal groups submitted comments on the draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the proposed water transfer/exchange program from Arvin-Edison Water Storage District to Metropolitan Water District (MET).  The project would transfer up to 100,000 acre-feet of Central Valley Project water to the MET, the largest urban wholesale water supplier in the State Water Project.  The letter pointed out that the draft DEA was seriously inadequate, lacked sufficient information to fully assess environmental impacts, failed to consider reasonable alternatives and that a full Environmental Impact Statement is required before a finding of no significant impact can be made.
