Press Conference: Can California Tunnel its Way Out of Drought?

On Monday, 13 January 2013, Bill Jennings, CSPA’s Executive Director, joined Jonas Minton, Planning and Conservation League; John Herrick, South Delta Water Agency; Dr. Jeffrey Michael, University of the Pacific; Tom Stokely, California Water Impact Network and Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla, Restore the Delta on a press conference to discuss the BDCP’s peripheral tunnels as a flawed solution for a drought-plagued state.  Presenters pointed out that California is a drought prone state, the twin tunnels will not increase water supply, the current water crisis is a result of egregious mismanagement of the state’s water supply system and there are more effective and economical alternatives to BDCP that will restore fisheries and ensure a reliable water supply.
