CSPA, Coalition Submit Comments on State Water Project Contract Extension

On 29 January 2014, CSPA joined PCL, Sierra Club, Environmental Water Caucus, PCFFA, C-WIN, Southern California Watershed Alliance and CA Save Our Streams Council in submitting comments on the extension of the State Water Project water supply contracts.  The comments focused on the threats to ratepayers and taxpayers from increased capitol costs and stated that the scope of allowable capitol costs must be transparent, clearly defined and disclosed to the public.  They recommended that water from defaulting contractors should be used to reduce “paper water” promises and that the urban preference be reinstated during times of drought.
